Koombana Bay Lookout – A Ride with a View

The other day I took my bike around the inlet and up to the Koombana Bay Lookout. It’s not a long ride, but it’s one of those routes that makes you slow down and enjoy Bunbury from a different angle.

Views Across Bunbury
From the lookout platform, you get sweeping views across Koombana Beach, the inlet, and the city. It’s the kind of spot where you can stand for a while and really see how everything connects — the calm curve of the bay, the bustle of town, and the water that runs right between them.
You can even spot the Dolphin Discovery Centre from here, sitting at the edge of the bay where so many visitors head for their first glimpse of Bunbury’s dolphins.

History & Learning
What makes this lookout even more special is the plaques and information boards. They share little pieces of Bunbury’s history, helping you imagine what life here was like in years gone by. It turns a simple stop into something more - part lookout, part outdoor museum.

Why Visit
Koombana Bay Lookout isn’t a big adventure, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s quick to get to, the views are stunning, and it connects you to both Bunbury’s natural beauty and its history.
And of course, it’s only a short distance from Bunbury Airport — which means it makes the perfect stop before or after an Open Air Adventure Flight. From the lookout you’ll see the bay and the city spread before you, but from the air you’ll see how the whole coastline stretches far beyond.
