Jetty Road – Dolphins, Harbour Views, Bunbury’s Historic Jetty

Jetty Road – Dolphins, Harbour Views, Bunbury’s Historic Jetty

This weekend we rode our bikes down to the Bunbury Jetty on Jetty Road, and it turned into one of those perfect coastal outings.

The jetty sits right on Dolphin Cove, and from the very start you’re greeted by the little harbour, calm waters, and a small sandy harbour beach. There’s even a playground and picnic area here, making it an easy spot for families to spend a morning.

Riding the Jetty

From the harbour, you can walk or ride all the way out along the jetty itself. On one side, you have the still waters of the harbour; on the other, the open expanse of Dolphin Cove. It’s such a peaceful ride, with nothing but the sound of the water and the seabreeze around you.

At the end of the jetty stands the old gantry crane, a relic from Bunbury’s industrial history, still standing tall and giving you a sense of the port’s past. It’s one of those landmarks that makes you stop for a moment, take a photo, and imagine how busy this place must have once been.

Dolphins in the Harbour

The real magic came when we spotted dolphins gliding right into the harbour. Bunbury is well known for its dolphins, but seeing them up this close, swimming so gracefully just metres from where we were standing, is always a special experience.

Why Visit Jetty Road

With its mix of history, family-friendly facilities, and incredible wildlife encounters, Jetty Road is one of Bunbury’s hidden gems. Whether you’re on foot, riding a bike, or bringing a picnic for the kids, there’s plenty here to enjoy.

And best of all, it’s only about ten minutes from Bunbury Airport - making it a perfect stop before or after an Open Air Adventure Flight. You’ll spot Dolphin Cove and the jetty from above in the plane, but experiencing it from the water’s edge makes for a whole new memory.
