Meet Winnie’s New Best Friend: Our 1957 Ferguson 35 Tractor

Sometimes it's the little additions that bring the biggest smiles.

If you've been following Open Air Adventure Flights recently, you've probably spotted a new member of the team appearing alongside Winnie at Bunbury Airport — a beautiful red 1957 Ferguson 35 tractor. 🚜✈️

Originally purchased to help tow Winnie around the airport, we never expected it to become quite as popular as it has.

In fact, a recent Instagram reel featuring the tractor and Winnie has already attracted more than 11,000 views, proving we're not the only ones who have fallen in love with this vintage combination.

There is something special about seeing two pieces of history working together.

On one side, you have Winnie, our beautifully restored 1941 Boeing Stearman that once trained military pilots. On the other, a classic 1957 Ferguson 35 tractor, a machine that has earned legendary status in farming communities around Australia and around the world.

Together they look like they've been paired forever.

The tractor was Johan's latest acquisition and has quickly become a favourite around Bunbury Airport. Every time we bring it out, people stop to admire it, ask questions, share stories, or tell us about a Ferguson they once owned or grew up around.

It's amazing how much nostalgia a simple tractor can create.

Much like Winnie, the Ferguson 35 represents an era when things were built to last. It's practical, reliable, full of character, and still doing exactly what it was designed to do nearly 70 years later.

The airport community has absolutely embraced it.

We often joke that Winnie might finally have some competition for attention.

For us, it adds another layer to the experience we're creating at Open Air Adventure Flights. We love preserving history, celebrating craftsmanship, and sharing these unique machines with others. Whether it's a vintage aircraft or a classic tractor, there's something special about keeping these stories alive.

And let's be honest — a bright red Ferguson 35 towing a Boeing Stearman across the tarmac just looks pretty cool.
