Open Air featured in the Bunbury Herald – New Venture to take flight
There’s something pretty surreal about seeing your dream featured in the local paper.
A few weeks ago, Open Air Adventure Flights and Winnie, our beautifully restored 1941 Boeing Stearman, were featured in the Bunbury Herald as we officially launch our vintage open cockpit flight experiences here in Bunbury. ✈️
What started as a dream, countless conversations, late nights, restoration work, paperwork, planning, and a lot of persistence has now become something very real - sharing the magic of vintage aviation with the South West community.
For us, this is so much more than just offering flights.
It’s about giving people the chance to step back into the golden age of aviation and experience flying the way it used to be. Open cockpit. Wind in your face. The roar of the radial engine. Pure adventure.
Seeing Winnie sitting proudly in the Bunbury Herald felt like a huge milestone for both of us. It reminded us just how far this journey has come - from an idea and a passion for aviation to creating something truly unique in Bunbury.
The support from the local community since launching has honestly blown us away. Whether it’s people stopping us at the airport, sharing our posts, booking flights, telling friends and family, or simply following along on the journey… we appreciate every bit of it.
One of the best parts so far has been hearing people’s reactions after they land. So many passengers say they come back feeling different - excited, emotional, inspired, and completely present in the moment. That’s exactly why we do this.
We’re incredibly proud to now call Bunbury home for Open Air Adventure Flights and we can’t wait to continue sharing Winnie and the experience of open cockpit flying with even more people.
This really does feel like only the beginning.
